In this Assignment, you are asked to apply knowledge on how communities and organizations can collaborate with families to promote resilience. In order to increase protective factors in a high risk community, it is often necessary for agencies to work together in order to provide comprehensive services. It is important for you, as a human service professional, to recognize both the benefit and challenges of providing these services. For this Assignment, you will use your knowledge from the course readings and also from articles in the Kaplan library to investigate how communities, agencies, and families can work together to increase the protective factors identified in resilience.

Part 1

The reading in your textbook identifies that a family-focused approach can successfully help children and reduces risk. The reading also indicates that successful approaches address both developmental and environmental needs as well as building supports. Please identify two supports that you believe are critical to the family system in a high-risk environment and discuss how they may increase protective factors and resilience.

Part 2

Choose one of the two supports in Part 1 and assess how this support could be implemented in a high risk community. Please assess the strengths and limitations for communities in providing this support.

Part 3

Choose one of the two supports identified in Part 1 and discuss specific challenges that a human service professional may encounter. Be sure to identify any ethical and multicultural issues that would influence the delivery of services.

This paper should be 3-5 pages (not including the cover page and reference page). It should be formatted in APA style. Your paper should include a minimum of three academic peer reviewed journal articles in addition to your textbook. Be sure to provide in-text citations and references for all information in this paper.
