Think about your knowledge and skills and the extent to which you are prepared for the new competencies and roles expected of compensation and benefits professionals today. Conduct a self-assessment. What competencies do you have and which ones do you still need to develop? Prepare and present an action plan that describes some of the things you can do to develop your own competencies in this field. What specific elements from our class can you use to help expand your own knowledge?

My first work experience began 28 years and has been ongoing ever since.In 20 of those years I have been a military, now Veteran, spouse in following my husband’s career with little to no focus on my own.Although, I am not where I would like to be in regards to a professional career, as I have not been able to stay anywhere long enough to establish roots or be an investment to any organization, my greatest accomplishments achieved in those 20 years have been managing and maintaining a household of 7 people; 2 adults and 5 children.I have succeeded in receiving an Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration Management; currently working on a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources.In addition to being a role model for my children, I am a prime example that dreams and goals can be achieved for those looking to go back to school in managing life.

My life and work experiences have helped me in discovering what it is that I am searching for in working for an organization.I am very passionate about helping people and believe in equality for all.Some of my best attributes include:

• Conceptual and Strategic Thinking

I know that I will be able to maintain and accomplish my competencies through continual education and pushing myself to always wanting more from myself. Setting daily or weekly goals is something I currently incorporate in my life to help me stay on track in achieving what needs to be completed. I find doing this helps me to stay focused and on track in accomplishing what needs to be done.

This course has taught me a great deal about compensation management. I was not aware of how compensation management plays a role at home, at work, and daily life in general. I believe the information I have learned throughout this course will help me progress and advance in my search for a better career. One that I will be content in and receive self-gratification from. I am very excited to share, and have been already, what I have learned. Watch out world because here I come!
